Danielle Snoddy Ryan
E-RYT 500, YACEP
It was 2005 when Danielle attended her first traditional Hatha yoga class with Kimberly Sotelo at Yoga Ananda in Auburn, AL. The teachings and practice ignited a strong passion to learn more about the healing and therapeutic effects of yoga and the breath on the body.
She attended the 200 hour yoga teacher training course at Sivananda Yoga Ashram in upstate New York in June of 2010. Upon returning to Florence, Shoals Yoga was born in July 2010 from her deepest intentions and prayers of creating a safe, non-judgmental space for others to destress and practice yoga. One year later, she gave birth to her son, Zeppelin, while using many Yogic and Ayurvedic practices to support a strong and conscious pregnancy and delivery.
Danielle completed 30 hours of Thai Massage training with Blaz Bertoncelj in 2012, a 500 hour yoga teacher training with Shannon Paige in Boulder, Colorado from 2013-2015 and a 100 hour certification course in Yoga of Recovery with Durga Leela in 2017. Among various other Yoga and Ayurveda workshops and courses.
Her classes are intelligently sequenced to guide students into the deepest reservoirs of the heart and she exemplifies how to take what is found in the heart and bring it into all aspects of your life. She currently co-leads 200 hour yoga teacher trainings with Ashley Baker Haselton with a heavy focus on keeping the tradition of the ancient teachings alive and thriving in our modern world. She also teaches workshops, leads retreats nationally and internationally, works with women in recovery as co-founder of SHE Recovery, and offers one-on-one lifestyle consultations using the wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga both in the Shoals and online. Ashley Baker Haselton
It was in college, Ashley first discovered yoga offered in a local gym to help manage the stresses of life. She practiced in this atmosphere for 6 years. It wasn’t until 2010 while taking her first class at Shoals Yoga with Danielle Snoddy that something really resonated in heart that would soon change her life.
During 2011, Ashley was in the process of making career changes and found herself relying on her yoga practice, searching within to find answers to the decisions she was facing. It was then she realized, yoga literally changed her life, because in December of 2011, she left her corporate position, got engaged to the most wonderful man, and headed off on a 2 ½ month journey to India! Furthering her practice in India reiterated her passion for yoga. But the possibility of teaching never crossed her mind until she shared her heart with Danielle and received complete love, encouragement and support.
In June 2012, Ashley completed her yoga teacher training in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains at the Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodbourne, NY. Within a week of her return to Alabama, Ashley was being introduced as Shoals Yoga’s newest teacher. Since she took the leap into teaching, she hasn’t looked back. Since 2012, she has taught hundreds of students in both public classes and private lessons, co-led yoga retreats, and traveled to Bali to begin her 500 hour teacher training with Janet Stone Yoga. The journey continues, and she’s so glad to be here for it. View her website here
Mika was originally born in Seoul, South Korea and adopted by her parents in Columbia, South Carolina. As a child her family lived in several places across the South, eventually settling in Athens, Alabama where she graduated from high school. Mika attended Auburn University where she started practicing yoga to alleviate stress related issues and calm the mind.
After graduating from Auburn, she moved to Taipei, Taiwan with her husband, Shoals native, to teach English as a second language in 2010. Here she was able to immerse herself in a foreign culture and strengthen her practice with yoga. In Taipei, Mika trained at Pure Yoga where she challenged herself and realized that pursuing yoga was really what she wanted to do with her career.
At the beginning of 2015 she started looking for opportunities to attend yoga teacher training programs in India. By July of that same year, she completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in India. There she was able to learn more about multi-style yoga, the history and philosophy of yoga, and human anatomy. After moving back to Florence with her husband, Mika is very happy to have found a home at Shoals Yoga. She is very thankful for this opportunity and hopes to continue to learn and grow as a yogi and an instructor.

Kristan Andrews began her journey on the path of yoga in 2013 after attending her first Vinyasa Flow class at Shoals Yoga. Since that time, she has attended many classes with various teachers as well as workshops in Thai massage and Ayurveda. She discovered how much of a positive impact her practice could have on life, mentally, emotionally and physically, as it has helped her get through many difficult times. She has a background in dance and has studied, as well as taught ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop. It was through dance that she found strength and an understanding of body awareness. Her personal practice helped her heal after breaking her ankle and rupturing a disc in her spine. Yoga has also helped her to learn to be present and patient, how to breathe, to listen to her body, self-love and more. Because of all the positive changes yoga has brought to her life, she decided she too would like to spread the joy of yoga to others. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training course at Shoals Yoga in 2017 with the teachers who inspired her to begin her daily practice. She hopes to provide students with a space of comfort and without judgement. Kristan hopes students leave class feeling balanced, loved, at ease, fully present and confident.
